This is defined as multi fuel stoves and wood burners which are installed into masonry/clay flues without a modern solid fuel liner.

Some flues serving gas fires can be swept without disconnecting the appliance. Examination must be made and confirmed by the client, prior to the appointment. This can be determined by looking within the chimney and a void being clearly visible.
Any work undertaken to remove blockages e.g birds nests etc, will be charged as detailed below.
If the client is unable to determine the void or provide confirmation in respect of the appliance, this should be communicated to us at the time of booking. The client must provide photographic information in respect of the appliance, prior to booking and or appointment.
Should access not be available, the client must arrange (at their expense) a qualified and registered gas engineer to disconnect the appliance prior to our appointment and attendance.
Note – we do not service or re-fit any gas appliances.

Pre-installation/flue closure sweep

Prior to any new appliance installation the flue should be swept and tested. This is undertaken to ensure the flue is free of soot deposits and debris.
In the event a flue is to be decommissioned, the flue should be swept. Included within this service is a CCTV examination of the flue.

Work will be undertaken in accordance with Approved Document J, issued by HM Government and deals with Combustion Appliances and Fuel Storage Systems.
The work is to identify and report on any leaks, defects or any other issues which may impact the good and safe operation of a flue.

Birds nest and Live Animal removal
Prices from £250
Nest and animal removals will include a CCTV inspection to determine the nature of any blockage, a sweep and subsequent post removal CCTV inspection to confirm the flue is safe and operational.
Should a live nest be identified, full compliance will be undertaken with the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981. This legislation makes it an offence to destroy a live nest.
Therefore, should a live nest be identified, we will not remove it. However, should a nest be determined to be uninhabited, we will remove it and sweep.
Once removed, we will undertake a full sweep, clean and test of appliance/set up, where possible. Work will be undertaken to standards of the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. Once payment has been received an insurance industry-recognised Certificate of Sweeping from The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps will be issued.
Nest and animal removals will include a CCTV inspection to determine the nature of any blockage, a sweep and subsequent post removal CCTV inspection to confirm the flue is safe and operational.

Tar blockage and hard soot removal sweep

In the event tar and or soot has hardened within a flue, this will result is the blockage of the system and will require addition work in order to return the flue to an optimal and safe condition.
Such blockage can not be dealt with by the normal sweeping process.
Once the blockages have been removed, we will undertake a full sweep, clean and test of appliance/set up, where possible. Work will be undertaken to standards of the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. Once payment has been received an insurance industry-recognised Certificate of Sweeping from The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps will be issued.
In the event tar and or soot has hardened within a flue, this will result is the blockage of the system and will require addition work in order to return the flue to an optimal and safe condition.
Such blockage can not be dealt with by the normal sweeping process.
Once the blockages have been removed, we will undertake a full sweep, clean and test of appliance/set up, where possible. Work will be undertaken to standards of the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. Tar and creosote removal
Prices from £350
Where a flue has considerable deposits of tar or creosote, treatment will be undertaken using a chemical process. In this case, the risk of fire within the flue is considerable. Once treated and remedial work undertaken, we will undertake a full sweep, clean and test of appliance/set up, where possible. Work will be undertaken to standards of the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps. Once payment has been received an insurance industry-recognised Certificate of Sweeping from The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps will be issued.
Where a flue has considerable deposits of tar or creosote, treatment will be undertaken using a chemical process. In this case, the risk of fire within the flue is considerable. Missed and cancelled appointment fee
Charges – will be the full sweeping fee
In the event we are unable to gain access to the property on the day of the appointment, we reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee. Any appointment which is not cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment time, will also charge at the full sweeping fee.
Should any appliance or fire be in a condition which renders it unable to be swept on the day of the appointment, we reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee.
In the event we are unable to gain access to the property on the day of the appointment, we reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee. Any appointment which is not cancelled 24 hours prior to the appointment time, will also charge at the full sweeping fee.
Should any appliance or fire be in a condition which renders it unable to be swept on the day of the appointment, we reserve the right to charge the full sweeping fee.
Emergency and Call out Fees
We will always assist clients in cases of emergency.
Any request to attend in a case of emergency, will attract a call-out fee in addition to any sweeping charge(s)

Payment
Payment must be made on the day of the sweep or service. We accept cash and card payments. Please note, we do not accept cheques.
By booking and having us undertake work for you, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. Where an invoice is issued, our payment terms are strictly 7 days for payment. Any payments which are not made within 7 days, will be subject to a £50 administration fee and interest chargeable at 8%.
By requesting us to sweep for you, the person/party making the booking is responsible and liable for payment in respect of the work undertaken.
By booking and having us undertake work for you, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. Where an invoice is issued, our payment terms are strictly 7 days for payment. Any payments which are not made within 7 days, will be subject to a £50 administration fee and interest chargeable at 8%.
By requesting us to sweep for you, the person/party making the booking is responsible and liable for payment in respect of the work undertaken.
Other charges
Any other charges incurred as a result of attending a clients location will be chargeable, in addition to the any work undertaken. This includes, parking, congestion, emission charges and tolls.
Before we sweep
Fires, wood burners and appliances to be swept must not be used within the 24 hours leading up to an appointment. The appliance or fire should be free from ash, fuel, combustibles and in a clean condition. A space of at least 2 meters should be available at the front of the appliance/fire. Furniture, tables and chairs should not be in the area required to work.
There should be nothing on top or to the sides of work area.
We will require access to a power plug.

After we sweep
Any waste as a result of the sweeping and cleaning process will be left with the client in order to be disposed of. The responsibility of compliant and appropriate disposal of waste will rest with the client.
Additional information
We are not responsible for any damage which may occur as part of, or be associated with the sweeping process. This includes, but is not limited to; stacks, chimney pots, liners, property and persons.
All fires, burners and flue must be serviceable and in good working order at the time we sweep.
The client is responsible for the correct cowl or terminal (and it being secured/being placed) at the top of any flue which is contracted for sweeping.
It is also the clients responsibility to ensure any installation complies with the appropriate industry standards. If you are unsure of these standards, please ask us and we will supply you with further information.
We are not under any circumstances responsible for the installation of your stove/appliance or opening. In the event any issues or observations in respect of your stove/appliance or opening, we will point these out to you once the sweeping process has finished. We would strongly advise you to ensure all remediation work is undertaken by a competent installer, before use. You should also ensure any obligations with regards to working with local councils/planning departments are met and appropriate documentation is present and signed off.
Please note we do not replace ropes or seals on doors, baffles, pipes or seals in any stoves. We have a contact who can undertake this work for you and we would be delighted to supply his details.
